Location: The Institute is located in East Delhi (Trans Yamuna) at Dilshad Garden (Road No.64 and is very close to Dilshad Garden and Nand Nagri , DTC Bus Terminals adjacent to SDN Hospital, G.T.B. Hospital and G.T. Road.

Nearest Metro Station: Jhilmil (approx 300-400 meter ) and Mansarovar Park (approx 200 meter from Mansarover Park Metro Station).E-Riksaw are available from Jhilmil and Mansarover Park Metro Station.

This Institute (IHBAS) is a tertiary level teaching Institute providing outdoor and indoor services for psychiatric and neurological diseases to all patients from Delhi as well as adjoining States.


IHBAS Generally provides following Services:

General OPD Morning Clinics :

Token Distribution Timing (Monday to Saturday) : 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM

New Registration - Monday to Saturday= 8.00 A.M to till last Token.

Old Registration - Monday to Saturday= 8.00 A.M to till last Token.

Afternoon Clinic Token Distribution Timing:= 12:30 to 2:00 PM

Afternoon Clinic Registration Timing:  =  1.30 P.M to till last Token.

Emergency Services: IHBAS Provides Emergency Services 24 hour and 7 days.The Institute offers 24 hours Emergency services in Psychiatry and Neurology . A 10 bedded Short Observation Facility(SOF) is available for patients of psychiatry and neurology. There is an emergency laboratory providing routine investigations facility.

Mental Health, Neurosciences & Allied sciences services are available at IHBAS

 As IHBAS is not a General Hospital so these services are not available at IHBAS

  • Gynecology, maternity care and general pediatric services.
  • General medical, general surgical conditions TB & chest illnesses.
  • Super specialty care in Cardiology, urology and endocrinology diseases.

 Mobile Mental Health Unit (MMHU) SERVICES

MMHU project is being run under the technical and administrative control of IHBAS since January 2011 under which two MMHU teams are operating. Each MMHU teams consists of a Patient Transport Ambulance with a team consisting of one Medical Officer, one Counselor, one Staff Nurse, one Nursing Orderly and a Driver. There is a Mobile Mental Health Unit (MMHU) Helpline no. - 011-22592818 & also mobile no. 9868396910 and 9868396911.  The team operates from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. on all working days. MMHU team has been constantly reaching out to the mentally ill persons in difficult situation of both homeless and homebound nature. The MMHU project is being run with funding from NRHM under the monitoring of DSHM.

DRUG DISTRIBUTION:

Most of the medicines prescribed by the doctors are usually available on Pharmacy Counters free of cost at OPD Block. Medicines are usually given for fifteen days to new OPD patients and for one month to old patients. 

 Other facilities available are as under

  • Wheel Chairs and trolley are available in OPD and Emergency
  • Free Vehicle parking
  • Standby Electric Generator
  • Adequate public conveniences
  • Free parking facility.

Post Graduate Teaching Facility

  • DM Neurology course started from 2008 with One candidate per year under the aegis of Delhi University. Now the seats have been increased to 3 candidates/per year from July, 2010 and degree recognized by MCI.
  • M.Phil. (Clinical Psychology) course started from October 2004 under the aegis of Delhi University with 10 students per year at present. The degree recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
  • DNB Neurology course has been suspended till further information.

  • Please come on specific OPD days which are mentioned on your OPD Cards if you have no emergency.
